    Retention

The Retention tab gives you a clear understanding of your users' behavior in a variety of time-based cohorts after install.

Batch helps you understand how a cohort of users are behaving 3, 7, 14, 30, and 90 days following installation to measure the effectiveness of your acquisition and user retention efforts.

    Selecting a grouping

    Select Grouping

Using your cursor, you can easily select a range of dates from the timeline. The date range selected will be shown below, along with the cohort of users that installed your app during this time.

For each time-based cohort you can see how many users are in a specific Smart Segment:

    • New: Newcomers that haven't yet established themselves as engaged users.
    • Engaged: Users who are actively using your app.
    • Dormant: Users who haven't used your app in a while.
    • One-time: Users that have had your app for a while but have only opened it once.

Additionally, you can hover your cursor over the timeline and view the percentage of users who were engaged a full 7 days following their installation, as indicated by the black box, which follows the graph's line.

    Interpreting your buckets

    Buckets

Batch helps you understand how a cohort of users are behaving 3, 7, 14, 30, and 90 days following installation.

For the date selection and associated population you have selected in the timeline above, these buckets will fill depending on each individual user's behavior. For instance, in the graphic above, you can see that after 14 days, 21% of users were engaged. This is measured at the 14 day mark for each user, providing an accurate description of aggregated user interactions, even if they didn't arrive at the 14 days mark at the same time.

You can easily improve your post-install retention targeting specific Smart Segments from your dashboard.
